Mockingbird Essay

In to Kill a Mockingbird, there are many obstacles characters have to face and overcome throughout the novel. Atticus Finch, a major character in the novel, has to face a huge obstacle over racism against a black man named Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson is an african american man and he is indeed a slave. He is brought to court for rape and beating a little girl, which did not do. Atticus Finch is the attorney for Tom, and Atticus has to deal with a racist town and his sister saying he’s a bad father. A lot of people didn’t like the fact that he is standing up for a black man, he does anyway and because of it his kids even get attacked.
“Lemme tell you somethin‘ now, Billy,” a third said, “you know the court appointed him
to defend this nigger.”  pg. 87 This quote is one of the people in the club that is telling Billy that Atticus was appointed to defend Tom.
The point of this book is trying to show everyone about the time period that it takes place in was a very bad time. full of racism and and prejudice, and even murder. It shows that we can overcome any obstacle we face if we had the willpower and kept with it even through the rough times.
“—asked her if he beat her like that, she said yes he had. Asked her if he took
advantage of her and she said yes he did. So I went down to Robinson’s house and
brought him back. She identified him as the one, so I took him in. That’s all there was to
it.”  pg. 89 In this quote the judge is asking the girl if Tom beat her.
Now, the racism in the town is the majority of the population and Atticus stepped up and stood at his side as his attorney. Everyone hated him for doing that, they all were against tom robinson and him. Now if you are against a lot more people than you have, it seems like a losing fight. But, Atticus faces the obstacle head on against all those forces and manages to stay with it. That is remarkable considering it was all of the people of his town against basically one man defending another man who is African American and can’t fend for himself.
Tom Robinson was accused of beating and raping a girl. Even though she was the guilty one because she led him on and her father saw and beat her. In court no one would defend Tom, until Atticus steps up and helps Tom. Atticus’ own sister is against him and says he’s a bad father, because his sister still follows the old way and having slaves and being against them. I think this shows everyone that has read the novel have gotten a big outlook on racism and really understanding the impact that Atticus has made.
Atticus has two kids, a girl and a boy. Their names are Jem and Scout. They are also involved because they get attacked by a man that hated his father very much for standing up for an African American slave. The man almost stabs them with a knife, until Boo Radley saw them and stabbed the man from behind and saves the children.
Atticus was speaking so quietly his last word crashed on our ears. I looked up, and his
face was vehement.
“There’s nothing more sickening to me than a low-grade white man
who’ll take advantage of a Negro’s ignorance. Don’t fool yourselves—it’s all adding up
and one of these days we’re going to pay the bill for it. I hope it’s not in you children’s
time.” pg. 117 In this quote from the book, Atticus is saying quietly in regards to what white folk do to African Americans.
In the novel, there is a lot of racism throughout the whole town and the townspeople get very angered by Atticus for stepping up for a slave. No one else stepped up for Tom and as a result for sticking up for him a faced the town, and his own two kids get attacked, his very own sister antagonized him. But, he stuck through the court system, the racist town, and the attack of his children. Although Tom got killed it shows that we can overcome anything if really want to and put all effort in.

My short story

Authors Notes:
1) I would like the reader to never give up on what you really want.
2) The whole thing was easy to write.
3) It wasn't that hard, but i kept losing my train of thought.
4) I don't really know but just comment what you liked :)

My story starts off at this kids house, he is very unhappy you might say. This kids name is Jason, Jason’s life has always been very empty and he never talked about what was bothering him because he usually avoided people. This worked for him because he was kind of antisocial and he let his problems fade away and all the pain, anger, and hurt got all built up. Jason had issues but he never got the help for it because he would just push them aside like nothing wrong. Sometimes he would take out all of his anger on his brother, though Jason didn't mean to, he did because he couldn’t really control it.
His dad didn't know what Jason was dealing with. therefore, he could not help and it was great because Jason didn't want his help...he didn't want anyone's help. Jason eventually started slacking off so his grades dropped and his teachers sort of noticed. He would just go home everyday and go on the internet. Sometimes he would go to his friends house and hang out, he went there often actually. He is Jason's best friend and he is one of the coolest people you will ever meet. They go to school together and they have had some pretty interesting conversations. okay so eventually since Jason's teachers have noticed that his grades are dropping, they brought it to his attention. He was asked to wait after class for a few minutes in every one of his classes to talk about his grades. Now he didn't do his homework and he also stopped doing his classwork. Jason said to all of his teachers that he would stay after to get his grade up and he said he would start doing his homework. The teachers all said to him that he was a smart kid and they know he can do the work but Jason didn't believe that.
Jason's mood was usually very depressing, it was unless his friends made him happy. he has very few friends that care enough to make him happy but he very much appreciates his friends that do care. Jason's life was very empty and he didn't feel complete so he would cry in his room, cry himself to sleep and sometimes he uttered a tear in school. He said to himself that he had nothing, he was poor and tried to be accepted as just normal and it worked but he still says he has nothing except his friends. Jason has been through a lot, more than people think and everyday is just another day closer we are to dying as he looks at it. But it is still remarkable that he gets up and goes to school everyday, Jason really has determination to do better its just he doesn't get help unless help comes to him.
When his teachers came to him about his grades, he saw it as a window of hope to actually be something in life so he was really determined to bring his grades up and succeed and get out of high school on to college and from there to get the job that he really wants to get. One thing is he doesn't even know what he wants to do but he has time to look over possibilities.
So Jason is determined to get all his missing work in, to higher his grade. He has the help of his teachers and his friends and family support and help him. His grades are F’s and some are D’s but he is going to get at least C’s in all of his classes, that’s his goal. Over time, Jason has stayed after school for help and to get his grades up and he has worked very hard. He’s putting the pieces together and his life is getting better. he doesn't need much more work to make up and his grades have gotten so much better. Almost all of Jason’s grades are C’s two are B’s and he is really happy and he is more positive now. His teachers have all noticed the change he made and they have seen how hard he has worked and they are all very proud of him.
Jason has made a huge change in his life and he made himself a promise, a promise to always work hard and do what needs to be done. I’m sure if more people knew that he made this change, they would be proud of him and maybe look up to him and it would give more people like Jason the idea to do what he has done. This was not an easy thing to do, it takes a lot to want something when you're like Jason, when he has almost given up on life and just decides to want to be something.
The End
psst...if you haven't really noticed, this is me but I just used another name and changed some things. I left out some people and some details just because I don't think its right to use peoples names without them knowing. The friend that goes to school with me is Zack Healy, he’s chill. i'm not very depressed, I am still depressed nonetheless. I actually want to get my grades up therefore i shall complete this essay. I hope you enjoy.
...Now It’s The End

My Value Essay Final

My Value Essay Final

the two things that I value in life are my: Playstation 3 and my hair. The thing thats priceless to me that I value is my hair. The priced value item is my Playstation 3.

First I am going to talk about my hair. my hair makes me how I am and I would look totally different without my hair. my hair is pretty long for a boy but I’ve seen people that have longer hair. people always bother me about my hair and honestly it gets old. my brother always does. my dad stopped after I turned a certain age. my hair is the second most important thing in my life and I need it. I tend to it everyday and it gets in the way sometimes, like it gets in my eyes or where I don't want it, so I flip it and I like constantly flip my hair.

Now my Playstation 3. it costs a lot of money and it came with an awesome game. that game is called assassin's creed 3 and the is one of the best games I have ever played. Honestly I don't care if someone tells me it isn’t a good game, because it is pretty epic. I got the new Playstation 3 for christmas. My dad grabbed the last one at Walmart before this old lady did, she was going for it and my dad was like “nope” and when I heard that was what happened, I was cracking up.

my Playstation 3 is amazing but, I love my hair. this essay seems pointless and i hope your comments will be funny because I am ready to laugh.

My hair is actually the second most thing that I value, the thing that I value the most is spending time with this one person.

P.S. this is a short essay :)
